HARLEM WEEK 35TH ANNIVERSARY 2009 THEME “HISTORIC CELEBRATIONS” – Harlem Week began in 1974 as a Harlem Day, which was a one-day tribute to Harlem’s glorious history. It was so unexpectedly successful that more days were needed to showcase the community’s rich economic, political and cultural history.
